The Journey of TANMAYA

Every place has its story. Ours began long before the studio itself was founded.

Twenty-three years ago, Michaela Lynnette Torstenová, the founder of TANMAYA®, first encountered the art of tantra – a moment that forever transformed her view of the body, intimacy, and human closeness. Curiosity and personal interest led her to a two-year tantric training, assisting in courses and experiencing her first tantric massage, which became a deep initiatory moment.

After years of studying tantra, yoga, Thai and therapeutic massage, and training in psychotherapy, Michaela created her original method of tantric massage – Inner Wave. At first, she shared it with her massage team, but gradually began teaching other students – men and women who perceived tantric massage as a path of closeness, sensitivity, and self-discovery.

Interest grew, and people came not only from the Czech Republic but also from Slovakia, Germany, Austria, England, America, and Japan. The technique evolved and matured over time – eventually taking on a new form and name, Deep Touch®. It unites tantric teaching, bioenergetics, and body therapy into a deep and harmonious whole, allowing even those new to tantra to experience a transformative encounter.

In 2005, Michaela founded Tantra Massage Prague, one of the first professional tantric studios in the Czech Republic.

It was here that the philosophy of working with touch was born – a philosophy that continues today under the name TANMAYA® – as a space where experience, feminine wisdom, authenticity, and deep respect for the human body come together.

Our Journey Through Time

2004 - 2006

First steps – the path to touch

The very beginnings were filled with travel. Michaela visited clients in their homes and rented rooms in meditation centers throughout Prague. It was during this time that the first touches, the first experiences, and the first stories of people searching for something more than an ordinary massage were born.

At the same time, she began leading weekend tantra workshops and evening tantric massage courses for the public at the Prague Institute for Gestalt Therapy, where the first foundations of what later became the Inner Wave. teaching method were laid.

2006 - 2008

First Base – The Massage Room near Stromovka

The first permanent base was created in a small, cozy massage room near Stromovka Park, as part of a smaller project in collaboration with two physiotherapists. It was here that the first team was formed – three masseuses and one masseur – and where the Inner Wave technique began to be taught, gradually becoming the foundation for everything that followed.

2008 - 2010

The Birth of the Studio – A Small Space with a Big Vision

As the number of clients grew and the need for more space arose, the studio moved to the Žižkov Tower area, where two new massage rooms dedicated solely to tantric work were created. One of Michaela’s clients was an architect deeply touched by tantra. He offered his help in designing the studio, and thanks to his sensitivity to space, light, and detail, a dignified and harmonious place was created with minimal resources – reflecting the essence of tantric art: beauty, peace, and presence.

The team expanded, the first professional training courses were launched, and articles and interviews began to appear in the media, introducing tantra to the public as a path of conscious touch.

2010 - 2019

The Golden Era – The Temple of Tantra in Smíchov

The next chapter brought a longing to give tantra the dignity and beauty it truly deserves. Michaela rented a dilapidated space near Prague’s Bertramka and, in collaboration with architect Markéta Fleischnerová, transformed it over nine months into a temple of tantra and touch – a place of light, scent, and calm. Three beautiful massage rooms were created, along with a reception and technical facilities – a space where aesthetics, sensuality, and consciousness merged into one harmonious whole.

People began to see tantric massage not as taboo, but as an art of presence and human closeness.

The studio started to gain attention – visited by journalists, it became the subject of interviews, articles, and TV reports. One of them was the well-known journalist Jiří X. Doležal, who wrote about his experience for Reflex magazine and filmed a report with us for TV Metropol. This wave of interest brought not only popularity but also respect – society began to perceive tantra in a new, more open way.

2019 - 2020

Time of Transformation – The Path to a New Form

After years of experience, growth, and hundreds of stories lived in the Smíchov space, the time came for transformation. There was a need to expand the existing studio, add two new massage rooms, and refine the entire environment to match the level of work and atmosphere our clients had come to love.

During the reconstruction, we opened a temporary studio on Staropramenná Street near Anděl, so that client care could continue without interruption. This transitional period became a beautiful bridge – bringing new inspiration, deepening team unity, and preparing the ground for the next step.

2020 - 2025

Transformation into TANMAYA

After eight months of intensive reconstruction, the studio reopened – in a new form, with new energy, and under the name TANMAYA®. Two more massage rooms were created, along with a completely new space that today bears the signature of beauty and awareness.

Along with the space, the tantric massage method itself evolved. Michaela developed it into Deep Touch®, a comprehensive tantric technique connecting body, breath, energy, and the awareness of the soul.

TANMAYA® continues the twenty-year tradition of Tantra Massage Prague, but opens a new chapter – mature, aesthetic, and conscious.

We continue in the same philosophy of touch, awareness, and beauty – only in a deeper, more evolved form.

Today, TANMAYA® stands as a space where the art of touch, awareness, and presence merge into one – with reverence for the history from which it was born.

Touch is not a tool. It' s a relationship
